Jargon

Krakaur used alot of different jargon in the story, such as the hilary step is a pace where only everest climbers know. Idderent jargons are used everywhere around the world. Jargons could be names or somehow nicknames that people uses. Such as the terms nerd, pimp, or jocks. For me, one of the places that i have used jargon most often was when i'm playing online games. While i'm playing online games, fighting a boss or channeling out strategies with different people, we call each boss or enemy a specific or quitestupid name that only people played the game would understand. These are like code names, its fast, simple, and when we use it during gameplay, its quite productive. It saves time for typing out the full name and ordering positions. Besides playing games, playin sports also have jargon. I believe jargons in playing sports are like the specific position of a person standing, i believe those counts as a jargon as well. Center, front, small front, or whichever base the people are calling. Either it is stealing a base or stealing the ball from another player, all seems to have its own specifc names called.

Risk for a Reason

I don't think everyone would just jump in the water to save someone that's drowning. I will save people, regardless of the danger, but only things that i'm capable of. If a kid drowned in a lake, i will strip off my top, take off my ipod and jump in the water immediately. Swimming is something that i'm good at, therefore i'm sure that i have the ability to save that someone who's drowning and bring them back up the shore or the side. Lots of people sacrificed their life when jumping off to save strangers, in fact, i believe we have already done this topic before already- -. After you saved someone, if feels natural to save another person, i don't know why but there is just this sympathy for other people that are suffering and you jump in the water again. I forgot what reminded me this sensation, but it was pretty clear to me after you rescued a person you will jump back in the water again for more people. The sense of fear and courage just rose in your heart, you shake, but you get the job done. A even more powerful adrenaline you will have when you put yourself in danger while saving people. It's a complicated line between foolishly put themselves at risk and actually suffered from risks. Its a blurry line, like the part of climbing a mountain. Some people say that its putting youself at risk, then should the people neglect those who are climbing the mountain? What if that's a sport of lots of people and people actually enjoy the climb?

Why Take Risks?

Life is a huge risk, everything around you is a risk. Drinking a bottle of tea of taking a piss is a risk taking activity. I don't remember what Krakaur said about the mountain climing expierence, but i believe climbing the mountain feels like challeging yourself and put yourself in great danger to see if you can survive it. Risk taking is like gambling, instead this time you're gambling your life. SOme people love the thrill of losing in ganbling. The pump of adrenaline gives them a sensation that's even better than winning. When you loses, your brain reacts to the sensation completly different to that of winning. it makes you want to play more, win more and not lose. While you win, you don't feel that much of an urge to keep playing. You don't want to win all the time, the different sensation provided by winning is not so addictive as to the one Losing provides. When you take on a risk, its a bet of your life. You can win something that's better than what you have now, and you might lose everything.

Cause and Effect

The story into thin air is filled with causes and effects, one event leads to the others tragedy, since in a place with no oxygen, no food, no sleep, and you're constantly ar risk, every descision counts. Lack of Oxygen for Krakaur was released when his friend twisted the oxygen gauge to full. However, it led to the next event where eventually he have no more oxygen, he had to hold position all the way till he is down at the SOuth Summit. The bad weather were caused by the blizzard, which led to the death of 20 or 25 people all throughout Krakaur's trip. The snow caused the mask of his friend blocked, he was unable to see anything and was left on top of the mountain. The action of slipping down the slope on the hilary steps was a quick descent down to the base camp. THe lack of food, and oxygen led to dizziness. The dizziness then led to depression of the whole trip, resulting in no happiness of climbing to the top but depressed and felt like a terrible dream. the whole story is connected by a series of events that leads from one to another. Each descitsion counts, as it might mean the other one's survival of reaching the top and climb back down safely.

Compare Disasters

Great differences in the two story. While titanic is much more tragic and dangerous of dying, its told in such boring and dull fashion that no one could seemed to feel the tension of the people. Even though the people are unconsicious of the situation that they were in, but the story telling just totally lost the feeling of tension in the use of words and the way each event happened in the story. The band are playing musics, the people feel like they're having a picnic. In Krakaur's disaster, the tension kept getting built up. The description of the whole surrounding event. The snow that surrounded him and the terrible blizzard that's about to come to kill half of his crew. The feeling of death slowly creeps into our spines and the chilling wind of the mountain being blew slowly up our whole body and the chilling effects of the story. Nothing of this feeling had been expressed in the story titanic. It totally lacked emotions inside, the sense of terror in the eyes of the passenger and the freezing temeprature of the sea are all neglected.

Taking a Leap

When can taking risk help a person do the right thing? There is not answer to that question, it's a matter of free response for everyone's personal descisions of how to save a life or when to save a life. Sacrifice, its a hard word to be explain on the part of what do you sacrifice for someone. anything you sacrifice, and i mean anything, as long as you have a heart for it can counts as something. A crappy handmade card that you put all of your time and energy into it for someone special or someone important could mean great value. Giving up things like their lives are really great, but little things could also make a great contribution to the people around you. I have several friends that sacrifice their time for me, like Patrick. We both sacrifice some of our time or money to help the other one to achieve one of their goals or go somewhere together. When he have a girl he likes, i might sacrifice my time to help her get a date or think about ways on making them a new little bf gf. He sacrifice his time to go out with me on buying a shoe, or fix my ring. We sacrifice our books or some retarded things and make a good laugh out of it. Anything could be sacrificed and create a little or huge impact on another person.

Perspective

Are perspective is like what we believe in. Some people's perspective to killing people might be cruel, some people might belive it is natural. Maybe some people will even think is fun. WHen you ask these three different kinds of people to write an article on the massacre of a group of people, the three of them will have different opnions. Their way of describing the whole situation might be different. The people that hates killing might included all kinds of emotions mixed inside the subjects of their writing. Describing the fear that is express in the helpless people or the painful look shooting out from the eyes of a innocent child. The one that loved to kill might express the whole situation totally different. The love of blood splattering action, the royal depiction of the people slaughtering the hopeless people. The proudness of the strong and the weak and feeble child being massacred. Both the same event, both completly different depiction of the event. One might make you feel extremely sad, another could make you feel the sense of pride of being the strong.
